Kreisler Collection

At my Blog today is an interesting new recording titled: Kreisler: The Complete Original Works for Violin and Piano Fritz Kreisler is considered among the greatest virtuosos of 20th century violin playing, and this recording gathers what is considered the complete original output for violin and piano composed by Kreisler himself. Much of this collection, performed by violinist Kees Hülsmann and Marian Bolt, is of pieces rarely recorded. Titles are as follows: Kreisler: Tempo di menuetto (in the style of Pugnani) Andantino in the style of Martini Scherzo (In The Style Of Dittersdorf) Gypsy Caprice Aucassin and Nicolette (canzonetta medievale) Allegretto (in the style of Boccherini) Preghiera in the style of Martini Tambourin Chinois, Op. 3 Menuet (in the style of Porpora) La Précieuse (in the style of Louis Couperin) Sicilienne and Rigaudon (in the style of Francoeur) Caprice Viennois, Op. 2 Marche miniature viennoise Menuet (in the style of Porpora) Berceuse Romantique, Op. 9 La Gitana Schön Rosmarin Episode Liebesleid Liebesfreud Viennese Rhapsodic Fantasietta Chanson Louis XIII and Pavane (In the style of Couperin) A Song La Chasse (The Hunt) in the style of Jean-Baptiste Cartier Rondino on a Theme by Beethoven Malagueña Romance, Op. 4 Cavatina Old German Shepherd’s Madrigal Polichinelle, serenade Toy Soldiers’ March Aubade Provençale Syncopation Grave in the Style of W.F. Bach Praeludium and Allegro (in the style of Pugnani) Kees Hülsmann studied at the Conservatory in Amsterdam and with Manoug Parikian in London, and has been leader of several orchestras, including the Israel and Netherlands Chamber Orchestras, and the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. From 1986 to 2010 he was concertmaster of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 1989 he has been a frequent guest with the London orchestras including the LSO with whom he made an award-winning recording of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade for Telarc.
